When Watched: Leopoldine Core with Mark Gonzales

When Watched is Leopoldine Core’s first collection of short fiction. These nineteen stories, all based in or around New York City, explore the lives, relationships, and sexual identities of characters who are unconventional but never unrelatable. Leopoldine Core is a New York native who has published one previous book, the poetry collection Veronica Bench. Her fiction and poetry have also appeared in The Paris Review Daily, PEN America and Apology Magazine. She is the recipient of a 2015 Whiting Award for fiction, as well as fellowships from The Center for Fiction and The Fine Arts Work Center. Sheila Heti says, “Leopoldine Core is one of the most original new writers I've come across. Reading her carefully laid out sentences is like following a trail of white pebbles through a dark forest of strange insights and passion.” She will be joined by Mark Gonzales, an artist, poet, and professional skateboarder. He has produced more than 145 zines.
