Poketo was founded in 2003 by husband-and-wife team Ted Vadakan and Angie Myung. The name Poketo (pronounced “poh-keh-toe”) comes from the mispronunciation of “pocket” by Angie’s grandmother. The brand has grown from a small startup into a creative hub and destination for lifestyle goods designed to provide art for your every day. Together, Ted and Angie have carefully curated and created a collection of design-conscious goods for the creative lifestyle.
In addition to its online store, Poketo opened its first retail location in 2012 and now has four in LA, DTLA, Koreatown, Culver City, Little Tokyo, each of which hosts art exhibitions, workshops and other events that serve to foster the local creative community. The new flagship, Poketo Project Space at ROW DTLA, is a concept space with rotating pop-ups with different brands, artists, designers, and makers. Poketo’s own products are found in more than 500 stores around the world.
With a background in design, Angie is Poketo’s Chief Creative Officer and Ted is the company’s CEO. They take a creative approach to business with Poketo, tackling projects that inspire, create beauty and build friendships and community.
