McNally Jackson Presents: The Second Installment of Assignment

Join us to celebrate the second installment of Assignment, The Literary Magazine of Southern New Hampshire University. Assignment is so named because, in addition to short stories and essays by established and up-and-coming authors, it includes creative writing assignments generated by the contributors. It is edited by Benjamin Nugent, Director of the Low-Residency MFA in Fiction and Nonfiction, and the author of the novel Good Kids and the cultural history American Nerd. His short stories have appeared in The Paris Review, Tin House, and Vice, and been anthologized in Best American Short Stories and The Unprofessionals: New American Writing from the Paris Review.

We’ll feature readings by contributors to the issue. Greg Jackson is author of the short story collection Prodigals, which Sam Lipstye has called “a memorable, powerful debut, full of dark splendor.” Justin Taylor’s latest book is the short story collection Flings, which, according to The Daily Beast, “cements Taylor’s status as a young writer to follow.” Nadia Owusu is the winner of the 2016 Assignment MFA Student Writing Contest.
