Playwright Annie Baker will visit us to celebrate the publication of two plays, THE FLICK (winner of the 2014 Pulitzer Prize), and her critically-praised translation of UNCLE VANYA. The evening will feature performances of scenes from both plays, as well as a discussion between Baker and Adam Greenfield, Director of New Play Development at Playwrights Horizons. Charles Isherwood praises her as "one of the freshest and most talented dramatists to emerge Off Broadway in the past decade," and Jesse Green writing for Vulture suggests that THE FLICK "may be the best argument anyone has yet made for the continued necessity, and profound uniqueness, of theater." Like her work, expect the evening to unfold according to it's own, real-time, natural rhythm.
