About thirty boys are the only survivors of a shipwreck in which all the adults who manage to reach an island perish. He immediately asks how to survive in such conditions, and two groups with their respective leaders are soon created. Ralph becomes the leader of those who are willing to collect and build shelters, while Jack becomes the leader of the hunters, animated by an adventurous spirit.
