He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Kesselring Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Whiting Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, the Steinberg Playwright Award, an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award, an Obie Award, and the Windham-Campbell Prize for Drama.
