Join legendary translator Gregory Rabassa, Granta Best Young Brazilian Novelist, J.P. Cuenca, and Granta editor John Freeman for a reading and discussion about the new Penguin Classics translations of Jorge Amado’s greatest works: The Double Death of Quincas Water-Bray and The Discovery of America by the Turks, as well as the new generation of Brazilian novelists, as introduced in Granta 121: The Best of Young Brazilian Novelists.

INTERNATIONAL LITERATURE: Led by Sarah McNally, this discussion group meets downstairs the first Monday of every month, at 7pm. On Monday, June 3rd, the book club will be discussing Elizabeth Bowen's The Death of the Heart.
ESSAYS: Co-led by Sarah Gerard and Rachel Hurn, our Essays Book Group meets in the travel section the first Wednesday of every month, at 7pm. On Wednesday, June 5th, the book club will be discussing Joan Didion's The White Album.
POETRY: Led by Brigid Brine, the Poetry Book Group meets upstairs in the travel section the second Thursday of every month, at 7pm. On Thursday, June 13th, the book club will be discussing Eugene Guillevic's Art
Poétique. This month, the book club will be discussing the magic of the line in Guillevic's book. How does he use the line, and how is it different than in the poetry of Mallarmé or Baudelaire?
PHILOSOPHY: Led by Kevin Cassem and Matthew Wagstaffe, our Philosophy Book Group meets in the travel section the first Tuesday of every month, at 7pm. On Tuesday, June 4th, the book club will be discussing Revolution: A Reader, compiled and annotated by Lisa Robertson and Matthew Stadler. Read the essays between p. 487 and p. 632. Come, and make your reading performative.
DRAMA: Led by Matt Pieknik, our Drama book group meets in the travel section the second Monday of every month, at 7pm. On Monday, June 10th, the book club will be discussing Thomas Bradshaw's Mary.
SMALL BUSINESS: Led by Holly Howard, our Small Business Reading Group meets in the travel section the second Tuesday of every month, at 7pm. On Tuesday, June 11th, the book club will be discussing Give And Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success, by Adam Grant.
