We're thrilled to welcome author Joan Dupont (flying in from France) and artist Ellen Shire, creators of the wonderful Philippe The Black Sheep. Kids and adults will love Philippe, the black sheep of his family, who exchanges resignation for determination to realize his dream of becoming a painter; everyone will be cheering for Philippe on his exciting, hilarious, and surprising odyssey. Philippe The Black Sheep author Joan Dupont writes on film and the arts for The New York Times, Film Comment, and Film Quarterly; she's also a journalist known for her remarkable interviews. Ellen Shire, illustrator of Philippe The Black Sheep, creates extraordinary paintings and fine art; she illustrates children's books and is author of The Bungling Ballerinas and The Mystery at Number Seven Rue Petite. Hosted by Yvonne Brooks. Best for ages 5 to 10. No rsvp required. Free.
